Ok so, I just installed mGBA onto the 1GB SD card inside the apps folder in my 4.3u Wii, but NO instructions where given to me on how to make a roms and save folder.. Here's the even BIGGER problem: I want to save my GBA games and their save files onto my external Fat32 HDD instead of my 1GB SD. So here's what I did.. well guessed.. I created a mGBA folder inside of my external HDD and inside of it I made 2 folders, 1 entitled roms and the other saves. You know, since so many other emulators follow that pattern, I figured why not? Well.. I was very wrong. mGBA starts up fine, and all I have to do is find my roms folder after I click on USB, and it plays... very smoothly actually, and when I save.. it says it saved.. OK? Well, when I exit the game, restart my Wii, go back to USB, find the rom folder, and directly under the game I just saved it shows a save file! OH! Great! It HAD to of saved!! So I happily enter back into the game... andddd no saves. Every slot in game says new game, no loads.. nothing... I also really am not a fan of save states AT ALL. I like to play a game and save it as it was intended to get the most realistic experience possible.. but even if I try to save the state.. IT FREEZES!! and I have to restart the Wii by holding onto the power! On a positive note, I REALLY like how great mGBA plays, sounds, and looks on my Wii, and I would love to solve this problem soon.. can anyone help? Maybe I'm using an outdated version? I got it from the mGBA site.. so.. idk? Also I tried saving on 2 separate games, Metroid Fusion and Dragonball Z: Legacy of Goku 2, and the same things happened. I also know that it's not my harddrive as I run Nintendont games great, and all save. Thanks in advance! (Pun intended)

Not working on Windows XP? (InitOnceExecuteOnce not found in Kernel32.dll)
Posted by: MagusLOGS - 05-09-2017, 06:55 PM - Forum: General - Replies (3)

Hello, first i want to thank you for creating this great Emulator. mGBA works perfect on my Windows 10 System however it won't start on my secondary Windows XP x86 System which i use for playing Retro Games. I am getting the Error Message 'InitOnceExecuteOnce not found in Kernel32.dll'. Is there any solution for this or is it simply that mGBA doesn't supports Windows XP? Thanks in advance.

Building on Mac - issue with installing to usr dir?
Posted by: kfjustis - 05-09-2017, 04:19 AM - Forum: Development - Replies (2)

I'm not sure if this is worthy of an issue on the repo or just a problem with my environment, but I ran into the following error.

Problem with sudo make install

I did some searching and after reading this thread it looks like an issue with OSX El Capitan. I should also note that when running the sudo command, it never asked me for a password, which makes me think even more that this is a problem on my end. That being said, I've never tried to fix an issue like this, so if anyone has any tips or has possibly ran into the same issue please let me know.

Thanks!

  [Wii][GB/GBC] Distorted audio
Posted by: ThePhantomCancerLancer - 05-06-2017, 07:19 PM - Forum: General - Replies (2)

Audio is noticeably distorted/crackly in Gameboy and Gameboy Color games when playing on mGBA Wii v0.5.2.  Is there a possible fix for this?

Question resolution/window size
Posted by: Kracov - 05-03-2017, 10:48 PM - Forum: General - Replies (2)

How do I change the resolution or window size when in fullscreen? Actually I am using retroarch so the program only uses core files from mGBA meaning I don't know how to change anything. I use my tv as the monitor but my tv is old so there are parts that are cropped off while fullscreen. I'd like to resize the screen so that it's just a LITTLE smaller if possible.

mGBA 3DS homescreen forwarders? (I guess?)
Posted by: SeraphTC - 04-26-2017, 10:19 PM - Forum: General - Replies (7)

Hi,

I've been looking into the benefits of VC injection for GBA backups rather than using emulators.  Obviously it works better for some games than others (for example, SMA4 or the Pokemon titles requiring a lot of messing around with hex patches etc, and even then not functioning properly).  I have an N3DS, and the framerate in mGBA is just fine (as is sound in the latest nightly), so the only real benefit from injection is having shortcuts directly to games on my home screen - which is the only real feature that I care about.

Is there anyway to create a .cia file that could call mGBA to start and stop with a specific rom?  (ie, the cia is executed and starts the cia version of mGBA with a call that loads a specific ROM, and then when the emulation is stopped mGBA auto closes).

Alternatively, how tricky would it be to build a cut down 'wrapper' version of mGBA that is either hardcoded (or uses a config entry) to start a ROM at launch, and then close when the emulation finishes?  I appreciate that this would require multiple mGBA installs (one for each game) but mGBA is pretty small, and I have a 128GB SDXC with plenty of room to spare.

I'm looking for ways to get those last few tricky games onto my home screen without using injection, as mGBA seems to provide much better compatibility in some cases (and more options are good!).

I'm not necessarily looking for anyone to do this for me - I'd just really appreciate some pointers.  I have done some limited development in the past (for personal use rather than professionally) so I may be able to have a crack at this if I know where to start.

(On the other hand, if anyone more experienced wanted to weigh in with the code I'd be happy to test).

Thanks for reading (and hopefully chiming in!) Smile

Wink Frame support for mBGA
Posted by: Dante - 04-24-2017, 12:19 PM - Forum: General - Replies (2)

Hello, for starters i'd like to say thanks for making this amazing emulator, i'm really enjoying it and hope it will keep up being the best.

So i'd like to make a suggestion of implementing a feature for mGBA ala BGB where you can use a png image as a frame to the emulator and make it look like the pic below.
I imagine maybe i'd use a frame from the Game Boy Advance player for the Gamecube..taking in account the resolution of the screen as you can do with BGB!
Thanks!

  Fast Forward Not Working (GBA)
Posted by: pokemasterRav - 04-23-2017, 12:24 AM - Forum: General - Replies (2)

So this emulator has been amazing and I love it but recently I messed around with my settings I don't remember and now the fast forward feature does not work. When I either hold Tab or press Shift+Tab the game plays at normal speed but the audio is distorted. I deleted the files and the appdata files as well and unzipped the download files but it's still broken. It's not just one game either it used to work on Fire Emblem(The game I use it for), Zelda minish cap, Metroid Fusion and others.

I'm on  my laptop, Windows 10 64-bit, Intel Celeron quad core processor n2930, Intel HD Graphics. I use version 0.5.2

  Step-by-step cheat code activation

Could someone please give me step-by-step instructions on how to activate gameshark cheat codes on this emulator? I have yet to find a thorough explanation. If one exists, could you provide a link? Thanks

  Joybus Emulation
Posted by: Ruby - 04-14-2017, 05:12 AM - Forum: Development - Replies (2)

I did notice it was planned (No rush, really!)
But I was also wondering if it'd be ported to the homebrew versions? If that was possible, anyways, would be cool to have a 3ds with a GBA game running connected to Dolphin!
