How to compile the emulator with debugger enabled?
Posted by: wavedevice - 07-21-2017, 07:55 PM - Forum: Development - Replies (5)

Hello. I am trying to compile mgba on linux 32 bit using the following steps:

mkdir build
cd build
cmake -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIXTongueATH=/usr ..
make
sudo make install

But the debugger is not enabled on the final ./mgba binary. When I press F11 in the emulator, nothing happens. How can I force the compilation of the debugger? Is this debugger specific for gba, or does it work on gbc roms?

  Emulation issue on mGBA 0.6.0
Posted by: Marcokobe - 07-19-2017, 03:45 PM - Forum: General - No Replies

Recently i encountered a strange issue which started occurring only since i downloaded the latest build. Every game i play is fine for about 5 minutes, until everythting messes up: every few seconds the emulation stops for a second, making incredibly annoying the gameplay. However i can resolve it momentarily pausing and resuming the emulation, even if it's not a real solution. I'm playing on windows 10. Thanks in advance for the response.
P.s. Well, it seems that the emulation " loses the fps target" so that i have to select it again.

megaman battle network cheats are driving me bonkers
Posted by: espee - 07-18-2017, 09:20 PM - Forum: General - Replies (5)

hey, guys, long time fan, first time poster.

first off, i'm an openemu (2.0.5) user, which, i believe, uses mgba 0.5.2 as its gameboy advance core. i realize that my not necessarily line me up to get some help on this.

second, i'm trying to use cheats from this page (at openemu's recommendation):

https://gamehacking.org/game/5288

i'm just trying to get anything to work. i've been told to avoid actionreplay (ar) 3-or-4 codes. which has caused me to maybe wrongfully avoid actionreplay (ar) 1-or-2 codes, so i've been trying to stick with codebreaker (cb) codes.

(i'm also a little confused on whether i need "enable," "master" or both; also confused if i need "one line" or "all lines.)

so, here's what i'm trying

enable code (must be on) (cb)
96F9940E 4C3F
A9C45784 AA2C
FA99D53C E926

[m] must be on (cb)
971181CD4EE1
3FFA80599274
27FB8522914B

infinite zenny (cb)
1A0A2B602680

i've tried just about every imaginable combination of the above, but to no avail.

the first three have spaces between 8+9, the rest do not. i'm told this doesn't matter. but i don't know if i need just one line of any of the first 6, or all 3 of either group, or all 6, and then finally the actual thing i'm trying to pull off.

there are more codes i'd like to do, but i thought i'd know right away if this one worked (don't have to be in battle, etc.)

thanks, again, so much. the fact you're giving this away and providing all this support is a gift to the world.

GBA Enhanced GBC Games - Modified Boot Rom?
Posted by: Alyosha - 07-18-2017, 07:16 PM - Forum: Development - Replies (2)

Hi, Smile

I've been adding BIOS support to BizHawk's port of Gambatte, and a user pointed out that GBA enhanced GBC games no longer work after doing so. As is known, register B is supposed to be 1 instead of 0 when booting from a GBA. Presumably the GBA contains a modified GBC Boot Rom for doing this. I looked over the GBC Boot Rom code and didn't see a trivial change that would make B=1 instead of zero after processing, so the Boot Rom in the GBA must be more like a different version.

So, can this version be dumped? Has it been already (and maybe I just can't find it?) Or is something else altogether happening?

Thanks for any insights, as this seems like a loose end to me that could use some clarification.

Distorted xbr-lvl3 shader after updating drivers?
Posted by: angryapplepanda - 07-17-2017, 04:29 PM - Forum: General - Replies (4)

Hi! So, I recently updated my nvidia drivers, and it could easily be something else that changed that I forgot, but now the xbr-lvl3 shader is broken, and instead of cleanly smoothing the game image, it just looks off color and distorted. Literally, one day it worked, and the next day it looked like this:

The older xbr shader that was included with previous mGBA versions is affected too. However, the xbr-lvl2 shader is NOT affected, nor are any of the other ones. It's frustrating! I've tried changing the nvidia settings for mGBA, I've tried using different versions of mGBA. Any advice is very welcome, thank you.

  Cheats in pokemon emerald

Sorry for bothering about this again, but how do I go about putting in cheats for Pokemon Emerald? I've tried adding a new set, doing the tutorial, switching between gameshark and Action replay, but nothing seems to be working.

  mGBA sound issues Windows 10
Posted by: Marcokobe - 07-09-2017, 09:52 PM - Forum: General - Replies (2)

I've been using this emulator since many months, but only recently I had serious sound issues. First of all I just passed to windows 10; before, on windows 7 i don't remember having the same problems. In particular playing Mother 3 is a real pain because of crackling and popping noises. I tried changing all the audio settings without luck. Maybe it's a problem with windows 10?
P.s. I'm playing on a not-so-weak laptop.

  Some controller issues
Posted by: InFluxx - 07-07-2017, 02:42 AM - Forum: General - No Replies

So, I recently switched from VBA-M to mGBA, as I've heard that it's a much better emulator overall. So far it seems that way. However, I'm having serious problems with my XInput controller. The controls that I set are not what ends up in game, and they don't always save. I'm using the nightly build from 7/6/17.
