  The nature of Cyber Familator Lite
Posted by: Fortranm - 08-18-2017, 08:09 PM - Forum: Gaming - No Replies

https://www.extremetech.com/extreme/7942...lator-lite

I recently remembered seeing articles about this thing(http://www.cybergadget.co.jp/products/45...07439.html) almost 10 years ago.

Cyber Gadget seems to be a notable third party accessories manufacturer. Is this product licensed?

Also, that article mentioned "while you’re using the DS as a controller and mini TV screen, the Famulator doesn’t actually use the DS hardware to run the games." Is there any proof for this statement?

Big Grin GBA Colors/LCD Shader Combo
Posted by: UsefulIdiot - 08-17-2017, 05:43 AM - Forum: General - No Replies

Dunno where to post this, and since this is my first time posting here, I just wanna make this real quick.

Do you like both Pokefan531's and hunterk's GBA Colors shader and Dominus Iniquitatis' LCD shader, and wish there was a way to combine the two together? Well, it's simple my friends:

  1. Go to the shaders folder in the mGBA folder and make a new folder there
  2. Rename it as "gba-lcd-combo.shader"
  3. Copy both gba-color.fs and lcd.fs from their respective folder, then paste them on your new folder
  4. Create a new text file and change "New Text Document.txt" to "manifest.ini" (assuming that you've uncheck the "hide extensions" option in the "Folders and search options"
  5. Copy this text to the file:
    Code:
    [shader]
    name=GBA Color/LCD Combo
    author=Pokefan531 & hunterk (GBA Color), and Dominus Iniquitatis (LCD)
    description=Merged by a really creative idiot
    passes=2

    [pass.0]
    fragmentShader=lcd.fs
    blend=1
    width=-3
    height=-3

    [pass.0.uniform.boundBrightness]
    type=float
    readableName=Bound brightness
    default=0.9
    min=0.0
    max=1.0

    [pass.1]
    fragmentShader=gba-color.fs
    blend=1

    [pass.1.uniform.darken_screen]
    type=float
    default=0.5
    readableName=Darken Screen

  6. Save.
Seriously, this was so easy, that even a curious simpleton like me was able to do it. I did this out of my desire to combine the two shaders together.

I also have a download link (for a limited time) in case you don't feel the hassle to do this method.

Download: https://ufile.io/b64wm (Will be removed on Sept. 16th, 2017)

Thanks Pokefan531, hunterk, and Dominus Iniquitatis, for making my favorite shaders for this excellent emulator.

  Fire Red Trading Communication Error
Posted by: JosephFTW - 08-13-2017, 04:43 AM - Forum: General - Replies (10)

Hello I'm new to these forums and mGBA. I started a forum account in hopes of getting some help for my Fire Red ROM I'm playing. I'm trying to make sure trading works before I go any further in the game and it seems like it does, to a point. It gets all the way to the point where both instances of my character enter the door to start trading with each other. As soon as they do, it goes to a black screen saying "Communication Error". Has anybody ran into this? Is it possible the ROM I have is just bad? Anybody know how to fix it? I really hope someone could help, maybe even share a known good ROM with me if possible. Thanks.

Solved this shortly after I posted. Seems to work flawlessly on 5.0 mGBA. I'll just use that. Thanks! I'm super happy now.

Big Grin Nice EMU
Posted by: jmc92 - 08-11-2017, 07:19 AM - Forum: General - No Replies

So I was testing some games for the nostalgia of it all, on this emu.
I'm pretty impressed to find Duke Nukem working absolutely flawlessly.
Nightmare before christmas runs smoothly, but I have to toggle the frame skip from 2 to 1 to get the title screen to appear perfect.
Lotr 3 return of the kings also seems to need the frameskip toggle to get the water reflections not to flicker
Star Wars The new droid army has no issues.
Two others I tested have sound issues. Scooby doo classic creep capers (Channel 4)
And kim possible 3, the intro movie sounds like the highs are being blown through a glass tube lol

Overall, well done. Big Grin
Gba emulation has come a long ways.

  ROM locations for mGBA on wii
Posted by: zephtragic - 08-08-2017, 07:14 PM - Forum: General - Replies (3)

I'm trying to get mGBA to work properly on my wii. I can fire up the app, but it just takes me to a black screen with a VERY empty file tree:

(Up)
sd:/

---------------------

I've tried placing .gba files in different locations on the SD card I'm using but nothing seems to work. Where are this .gba files supposed to live on the card? Are there any "gotchas" that I need to be aware of for mGBA to work properly on wii?

Thanks in advance!

FYI: am currently trying to use the latest nightly wii build and my wii is fully up to date.

  Save states keep crashing the emulator
Posted by: FunkyLovetouch - 08-04-2017, 04:35 AM - Forum: General - Replies (1)

I'm attempting to play Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones on v0.5.0 of mGBA, however the save states are giving me some trouble.
When I create a save state (using the key shortcuts shift+function key) it works, for the first time. Attempts to overwrite the save state shortly after creating the first save state in the same slot crashes the emulator. Sometimes making save states in several different slots helps, but inevitably if I attempt to reload one of them the emulator crashes. When I boot it back up I can reload a save state, then overwrite my previous save states, but only once as if the whole thing has reset itself and if I attempt a second overwrite the emulator crashes.
I'm running Windows 10, please let me know if I need to give any more information or to clarify anything regarding my issue.

Thanks

  {3DS port]RTC emulation in fire red pokemon romhacks. Is it possible
Posted by: Eragon123973 - 07-29-2017, 12:13 AM - Forum: General - Replies (10)

Hello I am wondering there is a way to get RTC working in rom hacks, using pokemon fire red as a base, with the 3ds port. mostly because alot of rom hacks using that game as a base add a day and night system by patching RTC into fire red (a game that originally does not have it). The fan games lose critical features without this system such as night time only pokemon, certain evolutions, story progression, ect. Any help would be much appreciated.
