  Link's Awakening crashes on Wii
Posted by: justjack - 08-09-2020, 05:56 PM - Forum: General - Replies (3)

(black and white original version)

When you kill this enemy in this cave the game hangs. I provide a save so you can test. Walk up to enter door, kill the enemy, crash.

Doesn't happen in PC mgba.

Video Problem playing .mvl files?
Posted by: DeepWeeb - 08-03-2020, 03:15 AM - Forum: General - Replies (5)

<p>I want to record a playthrough of Pokémon Leaf Green at 4K, but because recording at such high quality causes massive slow down making it a very miserable experience, I decided instead to use the "record debug video log" which I remember being simular to recording my inputs to re-record them later with ease.</p><p>However problems started when I tried to open it with the latest preview build of 0.9.0, which made the program crash no matter what.</p><p>I switched back to 0.8.2 and was able to play the file, but it would freeze and reset constantly.</p><p><br></p><p>The output file of my session is about 144mb, if that plays into anything.</p>

Pokemon Save State file is frozen
Posted by: AshKetchup - 03-06-2020, 02:31 AM - Forum: General - No Replies

<p>My Pokemon emerald save state file is frozen when loading. This problem has been happening often since I began using the save state option; so my method to unfreeze would be to&nbsp;make&nbsp;multiple copies of the same save state file and keep switching between them until one of them would not freeze on loading. However, now none of my save state files work at all, I'm not very experienced with using mgba, so I would really appreciate help <img src="https://forums.mgba.io/images/smilies/smile.png" data-sceditor-emoticon="Smile" alt="Smile" title="Smile"></p>

Posted by: Divineheresy88 - 03-02-2020, 09:41 AM - Forum: General - No Replies

<p>I still cannot figure out why mgba runs ff4 so poorly. It's a total lag and the audio sounds like crunching up aluminum foil. Any insights on how to improve the preformance to make mgba/ff4 playable on the vita</p>

Feature request: save as Animated PNG?
Posted by: Rin Tohsaka - 02-08-2020, 09:36 PM - Forum: Development - Replies (4)

I tried out the built-in recording/exporting function for the first time today and realized that a "save as Animated PNG" function could be a good intermediate between a full-fat lossless video recording and a 256 color-limited GIF. Now normally Animated PNGs with their full 24bit color palettes can get pretty large, but the GBA's 240x160 resolution is small enough and the graphics typically pixelated enough that animated PNGs of GBA games tend to actually compress pretty well, especially if they're optimized accordingly with regards to inter-frame compression (which I only mention because unfortunately there's quite a bit of APNG-creation software that creates completely unoptimized animations whereby each frame is fully stored as full-resolution PNGs, even if only one quadrant of the image actually updates) I don't know how useful the following would be for mGBA, but APNG Optimizer seems to be the go-to example of efficient inter-frame optimization and it does have a source available: https://sourceforge.net/projects/apng/fi...Optimizer/
