Im not very sure how to use cheats and reading through the forums didn't really help. I have mGBA 0.10.1 and Im getting pokemon emerald codes from https://www.thatvideogameblog.com/pokemo...ld-cheats/

So i want to play kirby & the amazing mirror with my a friend, i have two multiplayer windows (yes the ones opened in the file section of settings) opened, and am currently on the 'transmitting' page of the menu, after you click the multiplayer selection of start game. but i cant actually start it, what am i doing wrong?
i'm using mgba version 0.10.1 on macOS ventura (13.2)

Im planning to shiny hunt on Pokemon game and i was wondering if this emulator have a way to synchronise multiple windows (so it basically do the same move on every windows)

And if so how can i enable this feature ? Thank you

I can't start a game because using the keys that are need, like backspace aren't working. So I'm stuck on the start where the game is asking what language do I want to use and it won't progress when i press backspace or enter.

After...far too long not paying attention to the forums, and a Discord workaround (but definitely not solution), registration is finally reopened. Hopefully there won't be any further multi-year downtimes again!

One question, I recently got DualSense, from what I read it is compatible with mGBA (the gyroscope), but I can't get it to work, I'm using version 7356 on Linux. I hope you can help me with this problem.

Just like in my "Is the .CIA supposed to perform better than .3DSX?" thread, this is all ran on an original 3DS as well as my sister's original 2DS tested with the title screen of Pokemon Pinball (the Game Boy Color game) and in-game was tested by just holding the pinball in place with the left flipper on the blue table (easily achieved if you hold both flippers up at the very beginning - the pinball will settle on the left flipper).

And to clarify, these are all with the official stock provided CIA and 3DSX files straight from the mgba.io website.

For reference, compiling from the v0.10.0 git also results in performance extremely similar if not identical to v0.9.1. And as a sanity check I also breifly tried v0.8.4 but quickly found that performance was even worse than v0.9.1 (title screen was in the low 50s while the blue table was in the upper 40s) which then ruled out the idea of mGBA getting slower over time as an effect of presumably getting more accurate over time.

As I use an old 3DS, I am forced to use open_agb_firm in order to have playable performance for GBA games (I get like 20fps with GBA games via mGBA).

However, mGBA on my old 3DS has great performance on GBC games with only minor slow-down (at least when played through the .CIA version of mGBA as I mentioned in my other thread - generally ~55fps at worst, though the pause menu fade transition effect in Pokemon Card GB2 drops as low as 40fps).

The issue really though is that the icon for "Open AGB Launcher" and mGBA when installed as .CIA files are similar enough that it causes me a bit of confusion initially whenever I go to select the according icon on the 3DS home screen.


I tried to see if I could extract the icon and banner from GameYob for 3DS's .CIA and use it to replace the icon and banner used in mGBA's .CIA...but from what I can tell, the go-to method of doing this using HackingToolkit9DS doesn't seem to properly support homebrew apps because I do not end up with any according banner and/or icon files.


So yeah, is there some way to get mGBA in .CIA format with a GBC icon/banner?


(to clarify, this isn't a request for you to change mGBA itself as it would be rude of me to suggest straight-up changing the icon that has been used by mGBA across multiple platforms just because the old 3DS can't emulate GBA games at playable speeds)



For reference, I'm not just using GameYob itself because, despite seemingly having better performance in Pokemon Card GB than mGBA (it's a bit hard to tell since GameYob for 3DS lacks an fps counter), the 3DS fork of GameYob hasn't been updated for like 5 years and contains audio bugs that mGBA lacks and GameYob for DSi has since fixed, and using the much-more-recently-updated DSi version of GameYob directly is also a non-starter due to the unfortunate reduction of visual clarity from the double-scaling that occurs when playing in fullscreen (160x144 -> 213x192 -> 267x240) rather than how mGBA or GameYob for 3DS directly scales to the 3DS's screen (160x144 --to-> 267x240).

Problems running the latest update from git

With the .3DSX version, performance bounced around 57-58fps on the title screen while in-game the framerate was ~53fps.

However, when using the .CIA version, the very same title screen goes no lower than 59.80 fps. In-game the framerate was ~56fps.

Is this expected behavior?
