can mgba do this specific probably overly complicated thing?
Posted by: Flamesofshadow - 12-11-2017, 03:49 AM - Forum: General - Replies (2)

i came to this forum as i discovered mgba may possibly be what i seek, although like other emulators/ programs it may not be but its worth asking as it seems interesting even if not possible for my purpose.

i have something specific i wish to do which requires me to connect a real gba to mgba (on a wii), use cheat codes on something, and send it back to the real gba.

more elaboratly, i wish to use mgba with a real gba (with and without sonic advance games) and the two sonic adventure gamecube games for the purpose of moving/ getting special chao pets with codes/ or through raising them on the chao garden in the gba games. if that makes sense.

i wish to know if this is possible, so far no emulators/programs have this ability (plus gbas tend not to connect to pc emulators, and wii based ones are not well used any more), i have a working gamecube capable wii, a real gba, and the gnc-gba cable but as i dont have the sonic advance games, nor a cheat device for gba any longer, it is far harder for me to work with and having the ability to transfer chao through the gcn to my real gba and then to the mgba for temporary purposes, and then back again would be very helpful but i dont know if this is possible or if it could be set up by someone somehow.

GFX Corruption in F-Zero GP Legend and Others (Win 10)
Posted by: Hot Violet - 12-09-2017, 03:19 PM - Forum: General - Replies (2)

Hey. When I load F-Zero GPL (it also happens in quite a few other games) in the stand alone build of mGBA (latest release) the game has glitchy graphics on the menu screens. It takes the form of vertical black stripes across the screen. I'm not using any shaders. The emu is also set to its default OpenGL though the issue still happens when using the older OGL implementation. Software runs at about 1 fps!

When I run the mGBA build that comes with Retro Arch, all is well.

I'm on Windows 10 Pro with Intel 4600 onboard GPU.

Sorry if I'm not giving enough info. Please let me know if you need anything else. Smile

Using Cheat Files on Wii Port?
Posted by: Hot Violet - 12-09-2017, 03:10 PM - Forum: General - Replies (2)

Hiya. Is it possible to use cheat files on the Wii port of mGBA? If so, what format should they be in, where do I put them on my SD card and how do I use them in-game?

In particular, I'd like to use the AR codes like the ones that come along with Retro Arch to activate all vehicles in F-Zero: Maximum Velocity.

Thanks for any advice. Smile

Multiplayer support not working (2 windows)
Posted by: Numero256 - 11-28-2017, 03:30 PM - Forum: General - Replies (5)

I just tried to trade Pokemon in Fire Red and created a copy of the rom. Then I opened the new rom in a second window, but I just had a blank screen after I loaded the rom. I thought that my copied rom somehow didn't work so I tried it the other way around. No matter what rom I load up in a second window, it will be unplayable. Is it a known issue of mGBA 0.6.1 or should I just reinstall the emulator? I really don't want to switch to other emulators.

EDIT: I'm using Windows 10 if this is relevant information.

  Pokemon Emerald (USA,Europe) Cheats discussion
Posted by: MSgtOmni - 11-24-2017, 04:36 AM - Forum: General - Replies (6)

Is it Just me?

Trying to use codes for Pokemon Emerald (U).gba

Some reason i can get most codes to work perfectly
On My Boy free...but not on any PC emulator.
The rom i am using for both devices are the exact same.

Problems:
Master codes First Line Disappearing(select codes)
Access Bags or Shops codes dont work altogether
Walk through walls is a no go...

And the biggest one...

Pokemon Wild Modifier not working AT ALL...

I have searched these places for codes and have
Tried a virtual butt ton of them...

Supercheats
NeoSeeker
GameGenie
GameHacking
Pokemonemeraldcheats
Pokemonhackers
Codejunkies
Reddit
Quora?
Yahooanswers

And the list goes on..
I have been at this for three days...

Things ive gotten to work.
All Hold R for Exp codes
Item codes(PC and Bag)
Max stats(slot 1)

Things i havent tried
Teleport codes
Tm/hm(this is easy enough to obtain imo)
1hko
And everything else that wasnt mentioned here.

So...after all this....

This is what i have...
My boy free: most codes are successful
Vba: only select codes work explained above
mGBA: same as above (the EXACT same codes)

Vba and mGba delete the same lines of code(only master codes that ive seen). Fail at the same Entries. And successfully Run the exact same working codes.

The closest success ive had with Encounter modifier was turning a Wurmples' sprite into a Volpix...trying to encounter a Treecko...it was sad...really...

Also - when an xbox one controller is used (Xinput1)...
Settings>Controller>Mapping?

The LR bumpers are Default to -2 and -5 respectively..
When trying to map them to Left Trigger and RT...

+2 and +5 respectively they do not save... Instead of

+2/-2 and +5/-5 it does this...

2 and 5

And it will not save like this. This always reverts back to

-2 and -5

Any help with any of this would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks for taking the time to read this mess... Confused

Edit: And yes, i have tried many of these codes using
The different methods (GS,AR & CB)(aka typing the M and
XXX code 3! different ways)

  Screen tearing and Direct3D
Posted by: bajol - 11-23-2017, 07:06 PM - Forum: General - Replies (3)

Hi.
I´m having a screen tearing problem (I thinks that´s the right term) on mgba.
on older snv versions of vba-m I could chose Direct3D as display render, and that along with Vsync, would fix it; but mgba has no Direct3D backend (nor newer versions of vba-m for some reason).

So I wanted to ask if it would be possible to add D3D to mgba, along with Vsync (and some filters to go with it).

Thanks.

Hajimari no Ishi Link option not working properly
Posted by: pablitox777 - 11-23-2017, 06:21 PM - Forum: Development - No Replies

Hi there! I wanted to raise an issue with the multiplayer option on the game Summon Night Craftsword Monogatari - Hajimari no Ishi.

This game features a link option (proabably by link cable) once you beat the first boss. The thing is, when using mgba WITHOUT bios files, I get this message:

As you can see, connection is not possible, BUT, when using the BIOS files, once both games reach the same screen, the message dissapears:

the problem is, I can't move up or down, select any option, or even exit! the game feels like stuck up on that screen and the only thing I can do is either reboot or close it down.

Any idea what might be the problem?

Eagerly waiting for an answer on this issue.

Cheers, Pablitox.

  Tilt setup...Silly help please..
Posted by: Mclane - 11-20-2017, 04:12 PM - Forum: General - No Replies

I really should know better but I'm messing up setting up the tilt part, I'm using the latest version with my trusty XBOX360 wired pad on the PC, so far go good, on I put Yoshi Topsy Turvy and I can't get the tilt to do anything initially, I go to the sensors screen and try and setup the right Analogue stick but I'm doing something wrong as the character tilts at odd angles and the tilt calibration screen does move yoshi at all.

Could someone put this old got out of his misery and tell me exactly what I need to do for Tilt and Gyroscope to work please. ie am I supposed to press the setup but in sensors and then move the right stick a certain way, if yes, what way Smile

Very annoyed with myself as I've beta tested many emulators for a great many many years..

Cheers..
