In-game time not changing in Pokemon Emerald
Posted by: fldees - 07-05-2018, 10:48 PM - Forum: General - No Replies

mGBA edition:   0.5.2
game:               Pokemon Emerald 386 Chinese Edition by Some Amazing Programmer
problem:           after setting the time in game when I started play, the time on clock never changes, and I was stupid to set it at a time when Shoal Cave tides. As a result, I can't get into most of the cave.

question: how do I make the time move / or just set a different time in my current progress without having to restart the game all the way from the beginning?

Pokémon FireRed Fix for Different RTC Implementation
Posted by: UltimaSoul - 07-01-2018, 12:47 AM - Forum: General - No Replies

Hello endrift,

I thank you for your fix to the RTC implementation by interdpth which is used in prime-dialga's DNS program. That RTC implementation however does break communications for some reason.

Anyways there is another RTC implementation originally by ZodiacDaGreat (posted here: https://www.pokecommunity.com/showpost.p...ostcount=2) that was re-utilized and enhanced by Shiny Quagsire for his Wizard-DN system (here: https://github.com/shinyquagsire23/Wizar...er/rtc.asm). Fortunately, this one doesn't break communications, but it doesn't work in mGBA. This is the patch it is a part of: https://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=409672 which was originally obtained from here: https://www.pokecommunity.com/showpost.p...ostcount=1

I'm not entirely sure if this is the same problem that you posted here: https://twitter.com/endrift/status/959123576430317568, but I did try looking for similarities between both implementations to see if it had the same bugs. My limited ASM hacking knowledge hasn't really been able to see if it's indeed the same problem as the other implementation so I turn to you for help in fixing this if possible.

Thanks for your time and I hope you'll be able to help.

  any plan for dynamic recompiler?
Posted by: rkatnrhkd - 06-28-2018, 01:04 AM - Forum: General - No Replies

hello.

first at all, I have to say thank you for your work.
and my own language is not english.
please understand even I can't translate my language.
if you feel I'm rude, it's not my intent.

I have n3ds. and I really want to play gba on my machine.
but retroarch gpSP core have random crash because bad compiled dynamic recompiler that I known.
and mGBA that your work is safe but frame is low because don't have dynamic recompiler. just I known.
VC injection is uncomfortable and not supported my own contry.

do you have any plan for dynamic recompiler?

thank you.

Question Save state file type question
Posted by: davidD - 06-27-2018, 02:24 PM - Forum: General - Replies (2)

Hi everyone,

I found mGBA today, and tried it out. It has better performance than my previous emulator, and finally there are no sound glitches. The only thing that's off-putting for me is that the save state files use a file extension called .ss1, which in itself is not a problem whatsoever, but I also use GBA4iOS on my phone, and it's pretty convenient that I can move save files between devices and pick up the game from where I was.

However, GBA4iOS only works with .sgm file extensions. Is it possible to make mGBA use .sgm for save states instead?

Question Crash on rewinding
Posted by: superfmd - 06-24-2018, 12:37 PM - Forum: General - Replies (4)

Hello! I'm using lastest 5138 revision on win64 platform. The emulation rewinding feature seems not working properly to me. When I hold backquote, the game rewinds with lots of graphic or/and audio glitches. Sometimes an error message pops out and mGBA turns back to show game library, which message says The game has crashed with the following error:Jumped to invalid address: 0B058054. I wander that it's happening to everyone or just me.

  No color in Pokémon Red
Posted by: Ace66 - 06-15-2018, 04:35 PM - Forum: General - Replies (2)

Hey.
I've been playing Pokémon Red on this emulator recently and it was all going well until I realised that the color that you would see in the GBC when you played this game, it doesn't exist. In the emulator, it's all black and white with a little bit of green, but I remember playing it on the GBC with the red background and pokemon sprites. I don't know if there is a way to fix this, if not then I'm fine playing like this, but if anyone knows what to do, please tell.

Thanks for your time.

mGba not working with any gamepad
Posted by: BusterKid - 06-14-2018, 06:01 AM - Forum: General - No Replies

Everytime I try and configure my gamepad (ibuffalo SNES controller) it won’t save the configuration and I’m stuck with have an Up option on my dpad. I tried with various other logitech controllers as well but every time I configure and push apply the configuration won’t save and it goes back to the last configuration with out an Up input. It worked before and I’ve tried older versions of the emulator but theyall have the same configuration and it’s frustrating.

Question about the Audio Buffer setting
Posted by: LimitCrown - 06-11-2018, 01:21 AM - Forum: General - No Replies

I have a 144Hz G-Sync monitor and I set mGBA's FPS target to 59.73, which is the GBA's native refresh rate, but the video visibly stutters. I've was trying to figure out how to reduce the amount of stutter, and so it seems that this is mainly due to the audio buffer setting. Changing the audio buffer setting from 1536 samples to 768 or 1024 was able to reduce most of the stutter, choosing higher audio sample amounts causes the stutter to worsen, and choosing 512 samples causes the audio to be worse and the stutter to be worse than with the 768 or 1024 settings. Is there a specific Audio Buffer setting that I should target in order to minimize the stutter as much as possible?
