FPS issues playing Pokemon on Ubuntu

Hi.
I have an Acer Aspire e5-574-592S laptop with Ubuntu 18.04 and I am trying to run mGBA to play Pokemon Fire Red, but I get 40 fps constantly.

I tried changing the audio buffer size to the minimum and also messed with my screen refresh rate and the other emulator settings, but I can't seem to solve this issue.

Can you guys help me?

Try increasing the audio buffer size and changing the audio driver used by mGBA
